Objective Through analysis of the characteristics of highly cited literature in Chinese core journals in the field of pharmacy, to clarify the distribution characteristics of highly cited papers in the field of pharmacy in the past five years, and capture the research hotspots in the field of pharmacy in China.
Methods The core journals in the field of Chinese pharmacy published in the 2023 edition of China Science and Technology Journal Citation Report (Core Edition) were used as the journal sources to search the literature of the core journals in the field of Chinese pharmacy published in CNKI database from 2019 to 2023, and the literature with high citation frequency were identified by diachronic method. With the help of Microsoft Excel and CiteSpace 6.1.R6 softwares, the paper volume, authors, istitutions, funds and keywords were analyzed.
Results 43 core journals in the field of Chinese pharmacy were identified, and a total of 479 highly cited literature were published in the past five years, distributed in 40 journals, among which The Chinese Journal of Clinical Pharmacology had the highest number of publications, China Journal Pharmacy had the highest total citation frequency, and Northwest Pharmaceutical Journal had the highest citation frequency of each article. The authors of highly cited literature mainly cooperated in small scale. The issuing institutions were mainly universities and their affiliated hospitals, including China Pharmaceutical University, Peking Union Medical College of Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. There was a total of 339 highly cited literature with funded projects (70.77%). The most frequently papers literature in each year were the reviews, with the fund support rate of 100%, and the projects were mainly the national funds. The keywords with high frequency were "pharmacological action" "chemical composition" "mechanism of action" and "research progress".
Conclusion There is a positive correlation between literature quality and journal quality, and journals with high quality can attract more high-quality manuscripts. Reviews have more citation advantages. In the past five years, the research hotspots in the field of Chinese pharmacy are "pharmacological action" "chemical composition" "mechanism of action", etc., In addition, "safety" and "quality control" are also the focus of attention in recent years.
