Abstract

Objective  To optimize the fresh-cutting processing of Cistanche deserticola and determine the optimal process parameters.

Methods The contents of echinacoside and verbascoside in Cistanche deserticola processed products were determined by HPLC. The content of alcohol-soluble extract was determined according to the Chinese Pharmacopoeia (2025 edition). Using the contents of echinacoside, verbascoside and alcohol-soluble extract as evaluation indicators, a comprehensive weighting method combining analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and criteria importance through intercriteria correlation (CRITIC) method was employed to calculate the composite score. The slice thickness, drying temperature, and drying time were selected as the investigated factors, and single-factor tests and the Box-Behnken design-response surface method were used to optimize the fresh-cutting processing parameters of Cistanche deserticola.

Results  The optimal processing parameters were as follows: slice thickness of 3 mm, drying temperature of 60°C, and drying time of 20 h.

Conclusion  The optimal processing technology for fresh-cutting of Cistanche deserticola selected in this study is stable, reliable and scientifically sound, and can provide data support for the in-depth research and industrial production of Cistanche deserticola.
